The 20th edition of Melodi ni Solarie took part in Reikinn for the 3rd time, a record for a host city so far.
This was the 2nd edition of the Welcome Back theme (the first was Melodi ni Solarie 10) where artists that had already taken part of the contest come back to try their luck once again. 
Austrin, 
Verhagen and 
Fielden were the only provinces who sent previous winners to compete again - and all of them qualified to the final but couldn't match their precious results.
Austrin, 
Nordatlantik, 
Fortalet and 
Kastalísker have sent the same artist for the 3rd time. Only JORIS from Kastalísker managed to get his best result after his 3rd try. Clueso from Austrin became the first artist to have achieved 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the contest in 3 participations.
In the end, Nordens achieved its 3rd victory with "Mourir Vieux (Avec Toi)" by Tim Dup, who had previously achieved a 2nd place in Melodi ni Solarie 9, making him and Clueso the only artists who haved placed in the two highest positions.
Tim Dup becomes the first artist from France to win the competition. With the 3rd title, Nordens ties with 
Atlans, Austrin and 
Jarnælands as the provinces with the most titles.
